Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question:
What are 1/8 inch map tacks used for?
Answer: 1/8 inch map tacks are primarily used for fastening items to cork or bulletin boards. Their sharp pins allow for easy insertion, making them ideal for pinning notes, reminders, and photos in offices or classrooms. They're also suitable for crafting projects, as their vibrant green color adds a pop of brightness while securely holding materials together. -
Question:
What material are these map tacks made from?
Answer: These map tacks are typically made from durable metal, which provides a strong grip when inserted into surfaces. The pointed end is designed to penetrate easily, while the colored head, in this case, green, is often coated with plastic for a smoother finish. This combination ensures both longevity and functionality, making them a reliable choice for various applications. -
Question:
How many map tacks are included in a pack?
Answer: Each pack contains 200 map tacks, providing ample supply for various tasks. This bulk quantity is perfect for busy environments like classrooms and offices where frequent pinning of documents is required. Having a large quantity ensures that you won't run out quickly, thereby reducing the need for constant repurchasing. -
Question:
Can I use these tacks on surfaces other than cork boards?
Answer: Absolutely! While they are designed for cork boards, 1/8 inch map tacks can also be effectively used on paper, cardboard, and other soft materials. They're great for creating visuals like mood boards or project presentations. Just be cautious when using them on harder surfaces, as they may not penetrate properly. -
Question:
Are these green map tacks suitable for office use?
Answer: Yes, green map tacks are highly suitable for office use. Their vibrant color can help categorize or highlight important documents on bulletin boards, making it easier to locate critical information at a glance. They're also visually appealing, adding a touch of personality to otherwise standard office environments. -
Question:
Are these tacks sharp enough for heavy materials?
Answer: 1/8 inch map tacks are designed with a sharp end that can penetrate various materials effectively. However, they are best used for lightweight items such as paper or thin cardboard. For heavier materials, it's recommended to opt for larger tacks or pins designed for more substantial attachments to ensure stability. -
Question:
What is the color of these map tacks and does it affect their usability?
Answer: The map tacks are green, which not only adds a vibrant touch but also aids in organizing. Color coding documents or reminders using different colored tacks can enhance productivity by allowing quick visual identification. The color does not affect functionality but helps improve the overall aesthetics of your workspace. -
Question:
Can I reuse these map tacks?
Answer: Yes, map tacks can often be reused multiple times, especially if they're removed carefully from surfaces. When used properly, the metal pin can retain its sharpness and effectiveness. This makes them a cost-effective solution for temporary displays or projects that need frequent updates and changes. -

Question:
What other colors are available for these map tacks?
Answer: While this specific pack features green map tacks, many retailers offer a variety of colors such as red, blue, and yellow. Using different colors can enhance organization by visually categorizing related information. This flexibility in color choice allows you to customize your pinning experience based on your preferences or project needs.
AnmiaoStar Pins & Tacks Editorial Review
The 200Pcs 18 Inch Map Tacks in various colors have garnered a mixed reception from customers. Many users appreciate their functionality and the variety of colors available, particularly noting the purple and how it served as a stylish choice for wedding seating tags. The tacks are generally described as adequate for their intended purpose, accomplishing tasks such as pinning maps or adding decorative touches to office spaces. However, there are significant concerns regarding color accuracy and sturdiness. Some customers were disappointed with the colors, describing them as dull or different from what was expected based on the product images. Additionally, a few reviews remarked on the quality of the tacks, suggesting they feel cheap and lack durability, particularly when pinned into harder surfaces as opposed to cork. Overall, while the map tacks fulfill basic needs and are visually appealing in some colors, they may not meet the expectations of those looking for more robust or accurately represented products. **
